Clean Water for All God’s Children
Objective:
to create a colorful, visual reminder (children’s handprints) of the lesson that
pure water
and
clean hands
are the best way to prevent the spread of disease, resulting in
healthy
bodies
.
Materials Needed:
tempera paint or fingerpaint for handprints; construction paper or drawing paper with the
words “Pure Water + Clean Hands = Healthy Children” across the top; OR a large fabric
banner with those words across the top; markers for children to sign their names beneath
their handprints; plenty of rags or paper towels; soap and water for cleaning up
Teacher Instructions:
Mix the paint in as many colors as possible. Have the children carefully place a hand in
the paint, then immediately press that hand onto the paper or cloth, creating a handprint.
(If you use a cloth banner, mark the appropriate spots lightly with pencil, so that the
prints are nicely spaced across the banner.) Write each child’s name beneath his/her print.
Display the prints or banner in a prominent place!
When finished with this activity, remind children that one of the ways we can share
God’s love is by helping them to be healthier by teaching people about the importance of
washing hands.

Day 3: Mission
Clean Hands, Healthy Children
Note: Be sure to put
paper or plastic
behind the cloth, as
paint tends to bleed
through!
