The Beginning of God’s World
(based on Genesis 1:1-25)
In the beginning there was nothing but empty darkness. But God was there.
And God said, “Let there be light.” And God made a great light to shine in the darkness.
God made the daytime and the nighttime. Then God looked at the great light and said,
“That’s good!” And that was the first day in God’s world. (students with sun pin them

On the second day, God made the land and the sky. And God said, “That’s good!”
(students with the dome of the sky pin them on banner OR students glue dome to paper)
On the third day, God made the sea and the dry land. God made many trees and plants to
grow on the land. God made flowers of all colors, and apple trees, and evergreen trees.
And God said, “That’s good!” (evergreen trees)
On the fourth day, God said, “Let lights shine in the night sky as well as the day.” So
God made the cool, silver moon to light up the sky, and the stars to twinkle and shine
with the moon. And God said, “That’s good!” (stars)
Then God made living creatures of all kinds to live in the water and in the air, and fish of
all kinds to live in the sea, and birds of all kinds to fly in the sky. And God saw all the
living things and said, “That’s good!” And it was the fifth day in God’s world. (birds)
On the sixth day, God made more living creatures. God made animals to walk on the
land, and God made people – men and women and boys and girls – all of them in God’s
very own image. And God said, “That’s good!” And it was the sixth day of God’s world.
(person)
From the empty darkness, God made the world. God’s world is filled with warm light
and many colors. God’s world is filled with plants and creatures, and mountains and
rivers, and the happy sounds of life. And still today, God loves the world and says,
“That’s good!”
