Day 1:
The Goodness of Creation (Genesis 1)
The main idea of this day is that God has created all things and created them
good
!
Water is one of the very good things that God created.
Bible Story:
Use the Bible Story as contained in the material for ‘Bible Story: Day 1’. The children will enjoy
saying “It’s Good!” as you narrate the story, and they may enjoy naming the animals. After
discussion of the story, share in a prayer of thanksgiving for creation in which the children
participate.
Mission:
Use the materials in ‘Mission: Day 1’ (omit the agar culture, which is probably too advanced for
little ones). However, instead of asking them to draw an imaginary water purification system,
ask them to imagine a beautiful, clear stream of clean water, and draw a picture of that. They
may enjoy telling the other children about their pictures.
Crafts:
Young children will enjoy the Day 1 creation craft activity, but you may want to pre-cut the
shapes for them, and have a piece of paper with their name on it prepared, so that they need only
glue-stick the pieces to the paper.
Recreation/Snack:
The Clean Water Relay (game #1 of Day 2 in the Recreation section of the manual) is a good
game for very young children, using cups instead of tablespoons. Be sure to reinforce the
importance of handwashing before eating by having the children wash hand before snacks.
