Today’s focus: water cleans us and keeps us healthy

Welcome and Singing
Leader:
Come on in, Mr. Clean Water and Billy – we’re ready for you now.
They dialogue:
Mr. W:
Good morning, Billy.
BB:
Good morning, Mr. Water. Guess what! This morning, I didn’t waste all
that water when I brushed my teeth! I turned off the water while I
brushed
.
Mr. W
Good for you, Billy! Boys and girls, did you do that this morning, too?
Good for you. We’ve all saved a lot of water already!
BB:
So, Mr. Water, what’s our story about today?
Mr. W:
Well, today we’re going to hear about another way that God has used
water – to make things
clean
!
BB:
You mean, like my Mom makes me wash my hands before I eat, and
stuff like that? Yuk, I hate to wash!
Mr. W:
Well, you’ll love today’s story, then, because it’s about a man named
Naaman who didn’t want to wash, either!
BB:
Now, that sounds like my kind of guy!
Leader:
Boys and girls, what do your Mom or Dad tell you to do before you
come to the table for dinner? Right, wash your hands! That’s because
our hands have LOTS of germs on them. So, even if we have good,
clean water to drink, if we eat with hands that are germy, we can still get
sick! (hold up a sieve) Do you think if I poured dirty water through this
strainer, I could get rid of the germs? No, germs are too small for that.
In fact, they’re so small you can’t even
see
them without a microscope.
Our community has a big water treatment machine that has very
excellent filters to take out even the tiniest germs. In some countries,
though, there are no water treatment machines, even though their water is
very dirty. That’s why we’re trying to help take water purification
systems like this one (hold up large picture of

World
water purification system) to people in those countries, so they
can have clean water. Clean water and clean hands are the two
best
ways
to keep GERMS from making us sick!
Today’s Bible story is about a man named Naaman who was
really
sick,
but God used water to make him well. Let’s say our Bible verse together:
“So Naaman washed himself/ in the water of the Jordan River/...and his
flesh was healed/...and he was clean.” (II Kings 5:14)
