Clean Water for All God’s Children
General Instructions: Reflection Leader
Rev. 1/06
Your tasks as reflection leader are:
To help the children to settle down after an active morning!
To ask questions that will make the children think more deeply about the meaning of
the day’s story and activities.
To
listen
to the children as they express their feelings.
Remember, reflection time is not intended as instruction, but rather as a time for the children
to ponder what they have learned and experienced. Try not to direct their thoughts, but rather
to affirm their willingness to think deeply about the meaning of the day. This is a time for the
children to feel free to express themselves, so active listening is important, affirming and free
of judgment.
The first two questions are the same each day. Question #1 (“What was your favorite part of
today’s story?”) should not be rephrased (as, “What was the
most important
part of the
story?”) – children may have a favorite part that they feel is not really the most important!
This is a time for self-expression, even if it seems unconventional!
