Clean Water for All God’s Children
General Instructions for the Preschool Teacher
Rev. 1/06
Because preschool children are sometimes intimidated in a noisy, busy environment, and often are
confused by quick changes, some VBS teams may choose to keep their preschool children somewhat
separated from the other groups, contained in the same physical space for much of the morning. For
this reason, we offer a slightly different format for these little ones. In this scenario, the preschoolers
are with the older children for opening and closing assemblies, but are in their own space for the rest
of the time, with the possible exceptions of recreation/snacks and/or music.
You will be using the same stories, crafts, games and mission focus as the other groups, so you will
need a copy of all of those pages from the manual.
In most cases, you will also be using the same materials as the older children, so you may want to
coordinate the gathering of materials with those teachers, rather than duplicating these efforts.
If you are not joining the older children for music, you will need to work the music in among the other
activities each day.
Additional suggestions include: a free play area, including a water table or small plastic wading pool
placed on a low table, with pouring and dipping utensils, and plastic smocks for the children. Don’t
forget some large towels for clean-up!
