A hot time makes water appreciated By STEVE YOUNG June 9-12 were incredibly hot days in Middle Tennessee, particularly for the 65,000 fans attending the Country Music Association Fan Fest, a major event for the country music industry. Living Waters for the World was invited by the Shalom Foundation, one of our initiating partners working in Guatemala, to partner with them to set up and staff free water stations throughout the event. Thousands of hot, thirsty folks came through the stations, almost all offering a word of sincere thanks as they refilled water bottles, or just drank from the taps provided. At the LWW water tent, a water system display built by Dave Howell attracted attention and reminded those served of the plight of others in the world with no clean water to drink. Volunteers who staffed the station did a remarkable job under tough circumstances and we thank them: Terry Allen, Emily Dunbar, Doug and Susan Henry, Dave Howell, John and Mona Lee, Bill McClanahan, Deb and Mike O'Brien, Don Piggins, Carie Turner, John Wade and Tom Wilhoite. Steve Young of Franklin, Tenn., serves as LWW Director of Development. |
