Clean Water for All God’s Children
Objective:
to reinforce to children that baptism, as a sign and seal of God’s grace and a mark of
entrance into the community of faith, connects them to Jesus and to all of the baptized
believers of the past, present, and future.
Materials:
Copies of ‘The Circle of Baptism’; crayons; glue sticks; faces on following pages, cut out
and ready to glue in a circle around the picture of the infant being baptized.
Teacher Instructions:
Explain to children the concept of baptism as an inclusion in the community of faith,
which includes all baptized believers of the past (your grandparents, great-
grandparents.....), the present (your family, sisters, brothers, friends........), and future
(your children someday......). Encourage them to remember that they were once baptized
(or, in the case of children not baptized, that they may be baptized one day), just like the
baby in the picture. Then ask them to choose the ‘faces’ to glue in a circle around the
baptized baby, including all the people with whom they know their baptism connects
them. They may color the pictures if time permits.
