other pursues wilderness road, listening.
Isaiah’s scroll spoken into desert,
eunuch eagerly awaits explanatory echo.
Phillip jogs alongside; offers interpretation;
Ethiopian accepts hitchhiking preacher.
Water and theWord —
‘What can stand in the way…?’
Silent, obedient lamb connected
to willing, crucified savior;
worship, wilderness combine
as perfect salvific duo.
Scripture emboldens both men;
oasis, as non-sequitur, appears;
life-giving sacrament enacted;
living water for all God’s children.
